Manning's BNP date under fire

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Monday 4th Aug 2003.

COMEDIAN Bernard Manning is facing pressure from fellow funnymen to pull out of this year's BNP Red, White and Blue festival being held in the Ribble Valley later this month.

The comic, famous for his racist jokes, has said he was not even aware that he is supposed to performing during the 'family festival' in Sawley over the weekend of August 16 and 17.

But his agent Chris Graham has reportedly confirmed that he has been booked to attend, he insisted that there was no political motive behind the decision.

Comedians, including Jeremy Hardy and Mark Thomas, are believed to have written to Bernard, who last performed in Blackburn at the North bar earlier this year, asking him to pull out.
